Four years ago, Sparkle’s owners, our neighbours around the corner, moved to Singapore. Sparkle (or Sparkie, we were never quite sure), a very pretty female long-hair tabby, was supposed to move in with our next door neighbours — she did, briefly — but when our neighbours got a new cat of their own, Sparkle decided that a single girl like her might be better off being doted upon by the two male cats next door (our boys Frank and Billy), than taking her chances with the new female rival in her adoptive home. 

All was well for several years and when Billy passed away last year, Sparkle seemed to take up formal residence in his place. But more recently, a new female kitten has moved in, our daughter’s cat Zela and we have found that two females together in the same house is not a good idea.

On her own, Sparkle is gentle, affectionate and loyal. She would make an ideal family pet for cat lovers whose own cat has perhaps recently passed away, for anyone looking for a clean, healthy house cat, or for anyone with a mouse problem.
